Civil Rights
Civil rights covers a wide variety of personal and political liberties granted United States citizens and legal visitors under
the laws and constitutions of the fifty states and of the United States of America. Your civil rights include
the right to receive equal justice under the law, due process, the right to a fair trial, the right to peaceably
assemble and protest or support political figures or bodies, freedom of religion, the right to freely
associate with others, the right to be free of government and other oppression and retaliation, freedom
from discrimination on the basis of physical or mental disability, sex, age and/or religion, the right of
self-defense, to vote, to be secure from unreasonable searches of your person and property, not to be
assaulted and beaten without cause by government officials or those acting on their behalf, and even some
international rights too numerous to recite in this brief summary.
Of course, there are many factors that come into play and exceptions or limits on just how much the law
can and will do to remedy real or perceived constitutional wrongs or civil rights violations (for example,
you will have no constitutional right to associate with and assist terrorists). John Reilly & Associates has
a long and successful history of representing those who have had their civil rights violated and helping
our clients either obtain compensation or other real, tangible relief from these violations. Several of our
cases have been widely reported and even quoted time and again by other attorneys and courts for the
precedent they have set. We welcome all inquiries and are pleased to assist our clients with meritorious
civil rights cases.
